Use when emphasizing something is in progress right now

Use this to emphasize that an action is actively in progress right now. Stronger than '-고 있어요' — it means you're right in the middle of it.

Rules

Verb stem (with batchim) + 는 중이에요
먹다 (먹 has batchim ㄱ) → 먹 + 는 중이에요 → 먹는 중이에요
Verb stem (no batchim) + 는 중이에요
가다 (가 no batchim) → 가 + 는 중이에요 → 가는 중이에요
Verb stem (ㄹ drops) + 는 중이에요
만들다 (만들 ends in ㄹ) → 만드 + 는 중이에요 → 만드는 중이에요

These adverbs express how the speaker feels about the passage of time.

Rules

아직 + negation/progressive (= not yet / still)
아직 + 안 먹었어요 → 아직 안 먹었어요 (haven't eaten yet)
벌써 + completion (= already, sooner than expected, with surprise)
벌써 + 도착했어요 → 벌써 도착했어요? (already arrived?)
이미 + completion (= already, neutral)
이미 + 결정했어요 → 이미 결정했어요 (already decided)

아직 안 먹었어요.
I haven't eaten yet.
아직 + negation: not completed yet
벌써 도착했어요?
Have you already arrived?
벌써: faster-than-expected completion (surprise)
이미 결정했어요.
I've already decided.
이미: previously completed fact (neutral)
